Environmental targets

We reported in October 2017 that the government of Cape Verde had increased their renewables targets to having 100% of their energy requirements from sustainable sources by 2020. It would appear that they have been unable to meet this target and have now reset the target date to 2025. The islands have potential to use solar and wind power, given the climate. There is also the possibility of wave power as a source of energy. One of the problems is the lack of grid connectivity between the islands. 2025 is an admirable target and it will be interesting to see whether this small country can achieve it.
