Cabo Verde Airlines takes off again

It has been announced this week that Cabo Verde Airlines will recommence its service between Lisbon and Sal. The airline ceased operations in March 2020 but on 18 June it will start again. Initially just one flight a week on Fridays. In preparation for this, reservations can now be made on the Cabo Verde Airlines website.

From 28 June the airline will operate two days a week on the Praia-Sal-Lisbon route Monday and Friday); a weekly flight between Sal, Praia and Boston USA Tuesday/Wednesday and also a weekly flight each way on the Sal, São Vicente, Paris route (Saturday/Sunday).

The company hopes, as the pandemic gets under control and vaccinations become widespread, that they will be able to add other routes and frequencies to their schedules.

The airline states that the enforced cessation of services has given it time and impetus to reorganise and adopt and new online sales system. Also, for customers whose flights were cancelled in 2020, their voucher system will allow passengers to use their vouchers for uptimes to three years after the issue date.

The Chief Executive of Cabo Verde Airlines, Erlendur Svavarsson, stated “We are excited that we can finally resuscitate the airline from the ashes of the pandemic. The beaches of Sal, the unique restaurants and the warm and hospitable Cape Verdean people will welcome guests back to a destination truly different from all others. This is just the beginning, and we are looking forward to creating a better future”
