Cape Verde opening delayed

We reported on 09 June that Cape Verde would be opening up for tourists again at the beginning of July. Sadly, because Covid-19 has not been got under control yet, the opening up has now been delayed.

International flights to Sal, Boa Vista, Praia (Santiago) and São Vicente will not operate during July, unless some countries arrange repatriation flights. We understand that the Cape Verde authorities will review this situation again in August. Internal flights are currently shown starting again in mid-July, but that may be delayed further. We also hear that inter-island ferries are also being suspended.

This is very sad and very worrying for Cape Verde, where tourism is such an important industry. We can only hope that they manage to get the virus under control so that they can open up again. The people of Cape Verde want the tourists back.
