The coast of Maio has variety. This picture was taken from the cliffs below the Forte de São José, but in the distance there is the beautiful sandy beach in the town centre. So, when you visit Maio, you have lovely beaches to relax on, but also rocks and cliffs to explore. When there is a rough sea the cliffs can create a spectacular display of spray. The coastline at Vila do Maio (Porto Inglês) demonstrates this variety.
