On 14 September 2022, the Government of Cape Verde announced that the Covid-19 rules have been lifted. This decision was made following the improved situation within the country and high vaccination rates. As a result it is now no longer mandatory to wear face coverings in buildings and on transport (land, air and sea). For people travelling to Cape Verde no longer have to produce a valid Covid vaccination certificate or a negative test result. For travellers leaving Cape Verde, the requirements will be those of the destination country.

This relaxation came into effect on Thursday 15 September 2022. However, the Government still recommends that all residents have a third vaccination, or booster, if they are eligible. This is considered especially important for people aged 60 or over, or those with a compromised immune system, or chronic disease.
