On Saturday 3 September there was excitement as the first RoRo ferry (roll-on-roll-off) ferry arrived at the new Maio port. The Liberdade ferry brought with it, amongst other vehicles, a new refuse vehicle and new waste bins for the island. The delivery of the new waste collection vehicle was made much easier by the new port and the roll-on-roll-off ferry.
This was the first use of the new port facilities and all went according to plan. It was an historic occasion for the island of Maio and will make life much easier for residents, businesses and tourists.
