Covid travel restrictions

Sadly cases of Covid-19 are increasing again in Cape Verde. However, the numbers are still lower than in many European countries. Having got the figures so very low, this is an unwelcome development. On 11 June, the number of active cases had risen to 505. Just one week earlier, on 4 July numbers there were only 255 cases.

As a result of this increase, the Government is introducing more stringent covid travel restrictions from 1 July. From that date, inter-island travel will require a certificate confirming receipt of a third dose of vaccine, or a negative PCR test undertaken within the 72 hours before the journey. Alternatively, a negative antigen test undertaken within 48 before the journey. This brings the inter-island travel into line with the international requirements.
