Heavy rain in Cape Verde is a rare event. This is the rainy season, but the amount of rain is normally quite minimal. However, not this week; the islands, including Sal, Santo Antão and Boa Vista have seen some extremely heavy rain. This will not be very good for tourists, but for the inhabitants it will be welcomed because rain is so infrequent. Farmers and gardeners in particular will be excited. This picture is a scene one would not expect to see on Boa Vista. The heavy rain in Cape Verde was expected to last a couple of days and to be more intense on the Barlavento islands (Santo Antão, São Vicente, São Nicolau, Santa Luzia, Sal and Boa Vista). Normally brown landscapes are turned green after rain.
