Transavia to fly Paris to Sal

Another airline is planning to start flights to Sal, Cape Verde. This time it is Transavia, the low cost airline, with flights from Paris Orly. These flights are scheduled to start on 18 December. It is understood that these will be weekly on a Saturday. It appears to be only over the winter months, with the service ceasing in March 2022. This is, however, not unusual as the winter months are the peak period in Cape Verde. Transavia is part of the Air France KLM group and has its main centres in France and the Netherlands. It has been established for over 50 years.

The Cape Verdean government has proposed a plan to pay compensation to low cost airlines, in order to try and boost the tourist market following the effects of the Covid pandemic. The government’s target is for more than 1.2 million tourists by 2026.
