Germany eases travel restrictions

There is some good news for people from Germany who want to travel. From midnight on 1 August 2021, the German government removed the category of ‘general risk areas’ for travel. The only remaining restriction is travel to areas affected by variants of the Covid-19 virus. Cape Verde is showing a decline in the number of cases. Also the Delta (Indian) variant has not been found in Cape Verde. This means that travel to Cape Verde from Germany is now possible.

We know that large numbers of Germans like to visit Cape Verde. Consequently, it is to be hoped that this change will boost the number of tourists visiting Cape Verde from Germany. What is needed now is for airlines to start flying to Cape Verde from Germany. There are currently international flights into Sal, Santiago and São Vicente, but not yet to Boa Vista.
