Cape Verde now requires a certificate of covid vaccination for international visitors to enter the country. This requirement came into effect on Friday 7 August 2021. The certificate needs to have been issued by recognised, or accredited organisations. The vaccine received must be one of the six that the World Health Organisation has approved. The validity of the vaccine varies – for the Johnson and Johnson becomes valid after 28 days following a single dose. AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinopharm and Sinovac become valid after 14 days following the second dose. The certificate can be in paper or digital form and follows the EU pattern. This will replace the requirement for a PCR test within 72 hours before embarkation.
Vaccination certificates will be required for entry to stadia, discos and restaurants, as well as for internal and international travel. Restaurant and club customers will need to show a certificate from September. Night clubs will be allowed to open on 1 October. Gym customers will also need to show a certificate. International visitors in hotels, guest houses or other accommodation will need to present a certificate. For bars and lounges the requirement for a certificate already applies at weekends from 7pm on Fridays and from 7pm on the eve of public holidays. For restaurants this requirements comes into force on 1 September.
