Covid vaccine in Cape Verde

It is great news to learn that Cape Verde has now started to roll out the Covid-19 vaccine. The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva expressed his hope that the Cape Verdean population will have been vaccinated by the end of 2021. The first recipient of the vaccine was a nurse in Praia, who was inoculated last Thursday. To date, the country has had a total of 16,250 cases of covid and 158 deaths. To put this in perspective, population of the Cape Verde is about 550,000.

The vaccine has been delivered to Cape Verde by the COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access) programme. This programme is aimed at providing vaccines equitably to all countries, especially developing countries. Cape Verde. More deliveries are expected.
