Maio has a variety of coastline with rocky outcrops and cliffs together with lovely long sandy beaches. When the sea is rough, the spray over the rocks can be stunningly beautiful. When the sea is calm, the beaches are lovely for swimming and relaxing. The sea is a big attraction. Maio is in many ways a forgotten island, but it is one of Cape Verde’s gems and really should be on your itinerary.
